Dr Avril Moodley

Dr. Avril Moodley

is a distinguished Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist whose practice combines clinical excellence with compassionate, patient-centred care. She graduated from Walter Sisulu University in 2004 and gained valuable early clinical experience during community service in Ermelo, Mpumalanga.

She served as a Senior Medical Officer in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Pediatrics at Wentworth Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital before specialising at the University of Cape Town, where she was admitted as a Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2012.

Dr. Moodley earned a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2013, graduating with distinction for her dissertation. She continued to expand her expertise with a HarvardX Certificate in PH278 AX: The Health Effects of Climate Change (2020) and became a Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner in 2023. In 2025 she further broadened her clinical scope by obtaining a Certificate of Achievement for passing the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Advanced Course in Osteoporosis Examination, reinforcing her commitment to comprehensive bone and women’s health.

Since 2013, Dr. Moodley has practised privately, focusing on preventative medicine and holistic care to help women achieve optimal health at every life stage. She is recognised for her thoughtful, evidence-based approach and dedication to empowering patients. Outside of medicine, she is an accomplished poet and an adventurous PADI Open Water Diver, pursuits that reflect her creativity and zest for life.
